International mango festival is held every year during the first week of July in Delhi, the capital city of India. The mango festival is celebrated through out India during the months of June and July. But it is held in a large scale at the Talkatora stadium in Delhi. It is hosted by the Delhi Tourism Board in collaboration with the Delhi Government. Mango festival is also hosted in cities of Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Pinjore and Hyderabad.
Indian is the birthplace of mangoes and no wonder Indians are very fond of them and they just adore them! From the hills of Kashmir in north to the seashores of Indian Ocean in south, the people of India have cultivated, nurtured, adored and tasted several flavors of mangoes. International Mango Festival is a brilliant opportunity to taste the eleven hundred varieties of mangoes for free and relish the everlasting delicious experience. It is organized by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation in coordination with other concerned organizations at the popular Talkatora Stadium in Delhi, intended to reveal the specialties of mangoes from different states of India. There are different varieties of mangos that come from different states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab Haryana. There are different competitions that are held at the Mango Festival in Delhi between the different mango growers. The visitors here also get the opportunity to taste mangos for free and savor the delicious experience for the rest of the year.
